Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) promote student success by opening doors for them to be actively engaged in leadership, community service, career and college readiness skill development, citizenship, scholarships, and recognition opportunities. DECA, FBLA, FFA, FHA-HERO, HOSA, and Skills USA are each designed to be an integral part of the instructional program for CTE students. CTSO involvement enhances community and industry involvement and provides visibility and support to CTE programs. This workshop will demonstrate how engaging students in a CTSO will provide them with a means to apply the skills they attain and will demonstrate a correlation between what they are studying and their future career and higher education goals. Their participation will take them outside of their classroom environment and provide them with new experiences as they participate at regional, state, and national leadership events.
