Session Type:
CA Career Pathways Session
Presentation Category:
Curriculum Integration
This workshop will begin at 8:30am and conclude at 3:30pm. You must be pre-registered into this workshop to attend. This pre-conference is actually a one-day workshop for both Auto and Math teachers interested in integrating their two subjects. The trainers’ method of addressing both needs is to infuse math into the Automotive course, where students can readily identify the relevance of mathematics. For the first time, all students will be able to see the relevance through real world models of skills being used. They not only see this in the classroom but also can recognize knowledge attained in class outside by being able to recognize topics related to their own homes and lives. Fun and relevant math activities will be discussed as well as how to strengthen CTE’s role in high stakes testing. This all-day session is a preview of a 5-day workshop that will be held in June 2012 sponsored by the CA Industrial Technology Education Project (CITEP).
